Can someone explain why SCS/ST or any kinda reservation really matter?

I saw recent incidents where marginalized communities were raped, killed, made to drink urine and much worse ! then there is the sentiment around SC/ST are already rich due to the reservation opportunities that has made them have generational wealth I also understand its not the same case for each and everyone belonging to that particular community no matter how much sympathy u show them, I have witnessed instances where they favor their own casts be it in job, frndships and other stuff - its as if they are one and yah perpetuate or carry forward behaviors that are not speaking of their discrimination its like they are practicing their own form of discrimination against those who are not them well all of these are very confusing I was hoping to understand if our constitution says everyone has ' RIGHT TO EQUALITY ' then why perpetuate a systemic discrimination by providing reservation for some and not for some others. I understand people before Independence facing discrimination but after we became republic everyone must have had equal opportunities. I'm sorry if you were poor or had less amenities at life! that doesn't mean the ones who work harder then you have to give of their right to opportunities just coz they aint same caste as YOU! I am really trying hard to get this system its created wealthy people then there are people who are like give us reservation
