IIT Delhi Shares Its Roots with DTU & NSUT.

**IIT Delhi, DTU, and NSUT** originated from the **Delhi Polytechnic**: **Delhi Polytechnic (1941)** * Founded in 1941 at Kashmere Gate. * The engineering division of this polytechnic eventually became **DCE** and then **DTU** in Rohini. **IIT Delhi (Est. 1961, IIT Status in 1963)** * Started as the **College of Engineering & Technology** under **DU**. * Received IIT status in 1963 and moved to its own campus in Hauz Khas. * It drew heavily from the faculty & resources of the old Kashmere Gate set up in the early days. **NSUT (Formerly NSIT/DIT)** * Began in 1983 as **DIT** initially at the Kashmere Gate campus. * Renamed **NSIT** and later upgraded to **NSUT** in Dwarka. Now **IGDTUW** is located at the old setup.
