Why do we Say a Criminal Pollutes a holy place, Not That the holy place purifies the Criminal? I've been thinking about this analogy: When a criminal goes to a place of spritual n religious importance, we often say that the place gets polluted, not that the criminal got baptized or purified. Why is that? Is it because the perception of a holy place's sanctity is so strong that even one bad presence can taint it? Or is it more about our societal views on crime and morality?
