Possibly a dumb question, but at which point are profits taxed on assets? At time of sale or at time of withdrawal from brokerage account? Looking to sell an inherited asset in the market and move it into something like SP500 instead without withdrawing anything and wondering if I would pay tax on the gains since inheriting the asset.
