In Myanmar, the ruling regime has a policy of “Bamarnisation” which is to turn the minorities into more Bamar like by patronage of Burmese culture and language, promoting Buddhism over other religions, and imposing Burmese language in ethnic states. This goes into administration and military as well, if the regime thinks a half-blood isn't Burmese enough, they won't get into high positions.
