Hey buddy, here are a few simple things you can do to get the best mileage out of your bike:

1. Chain Maintenance – Clean and lube the chain every 500 km (or sooner if you're riding in dusty conditions). A well-maintained chain reduces friction and improves efficiency.
2. Tyre Pressure – Keep it at the recommended levels. Properly inflated tyres not only enhance mileage but also improve handling and safety.
3. Smooth Throttle Control – Avoid sudden acceleration or abrupt speed changes. Maintaining a steady speed whenever possible helps conserve fuel.
4. Optimal Gear Shifts – Try to upshift at moderate speeds. On my Meteor, I shift to 2nd at ~10 km/h, 3rd at 20+, 4th at 40+, and 5th at 50+. Keeping revs controlled makes a noticeable difference.
5. Regular Servicing – Stick to the recommended service intervals (every 5,000 km) to keep the engine running efficiently.
6. Engine warm up - Might not directly contribute to better mileage but makes difference in the engine health in long run. Whenever you start the bike for the first time in the day or after an interval of more than 6 7 hours, always go for a cold start and let the engine run freely for 2 minutes at least(you can put on your gears during this time).

By following these, I’ve been able to extract an average of 36 kmpl, with my best being 46 kmpl. Since the Hunter is lighter, you might get similar or even better mileage.
