Our movies are all about patriarchy. They shame women who wear modern dresses and they get whistles in the audience.

I've seen north indian parents go out with their daughters to malls with the daughter wearing jean shorts and a t-shirt.

My mom won't even allow me to wear a dress that shows my calves. And I won't wear shorts to public places by a personal level of comfort.

It's not like I don't like to wear it. I can feel the prying eyes even when I wear a saree. So I don't want those mongrels to even look if I'm wearing shorts.
