No eggs or meat being sold on Swiggy Instamart today because of Mahashivratri?
One day of not having meat available isn’t such a big issue I think, it’s just accomodation of beliefs.
It’s like( in most cases) if you got a restaurant with a Muslim friend, you won’t order pork as a sign of respect or if a Hindu is there, no beef.
Sooo, I think we can chill out if one day a year we can’t get eggs delivered for a festival celebrated by crores of people. -

Are you in Favor of Reservation based on Economic status (very very low income) instead of caste?
I participated in a very long and productive debate with the ChatGpt on this matter where I argued against caste based reservations. It came to a point that ChatGpt was almost in agreement with my stance. I then asked it to create an essay on why I oppose reservations, using my arguments and reasoning. Here it is :
**WHY I OPPOSE RESERVATIONS**
**Introduction**
The debate surrounding reservations (or affirmative action) is one of the most contentious issues in modern policy-making. Proponents argue that it is a necessary tool to correct historical injustices and provide equal opportunities to marginalized groups. However, a deeper examination reveals that reservations are fundamentally flawed, both in theory and in practice. They distort market efficiency, create new injustices, and undermine individual responsibility. Moreover, the very premise upon which reservations are justified—historical discrimination—fails to hold up under logical scrutiny. In this essay, I will provide a detailed and rational argument against reservations, breaking down why they are not only unnecessary but also counterproductive.
**The Misconception of Voluntary Interactions and Structural Discrimination**
A common argument in favor of reservations is that in India, most social structures, such as caste and class, are deeply ingrained and inherited rather than freely chosen. The claim is that, because these hierarchies exist, true voluntarism is an illusion, and government intervention is required to ‘correct’ them.
However, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of voluntary interactions. Libertarianism does not claim that society operates under immediate, perfect equality. Instead, it holds that individuals, as free agents, should make choices for themselves without coercion. If people choose to engage in social structures like caste voluntarily, that is their right, provided they are not infringing upon others’ rights. The mere existence of an inherited social structure does not justify government interference, particularly when that interference takes the form of redistribution and state-mandated quotas.
Reservations assume that society must be forcibly restructured to achieve fairness. However, fairness itself is subjective. What one person considers an unfair privilege, another might see as the result of personal or ancestral hard work. To assume that the state can objectively ‘correct’ such imbalances is not only arrogant but also highly impractical.
**The Myth of Historical Injustices as a Justification for Modern-Day Reservations**
A core argument for reservations is that historical injustices have created power imbalances that persist across generations. Because of this, it is claimed that true voluntarism is impossible unless the state levels the playing field.
This argument is deeply flawed. The fundamental mistake here is assuming that past injustices justify present-day policies of forced redistribution. Just because a power imbalance exists due to historical events does not mean that government intervention is the right solution today. **If we start using past injustice to justify modern intervention, we end up in a never-ending cycle of reparations and handouts with no logical stopping point.**
Additionally, **it is impossible to determine whether someone's current wealth, status, or opportunities are the result of historical injustices.** Many people, even within so-called ‘privileged’ groups, struggle with poverty and lack of access to resources. Conversely, many from historically disadvantaged groups have risen to success through their own merit. If we accept the principle that wealth and opportunities must be redistributed based on past wrongs, we must also accept that this process would have no clear boundaries. **How far back in time should we go? How do we measure the degree of advantage or disadvantage?** These are questions that have no objective answers, making the entire concept of reservations inherently unjust and arbitrary.
