What is wrong with YouTube anymore?

Miserable experience when watching on TV or phone because I don't have adblockers on those, a minimum of 15s worth of unskippable ads, up to 60s on TV, and a mobile UI that gets worse and worse every time they update it. Why is this app getting worse with age? I got to a point where I told myself "I'm gonna watch some YouTube to calm down" and had to physically stop myself because I knew I'd get even angrier because of unskippable ads.
