Hello a Language enthusiast from Nepal

I recently discovered that the languages of the western Himalayas and Nepal share a common origin from Prakrit. I'm curious to know how much a Kumouni or Garhwali speaker can understand Nepali. Currently, the Nepali language has significant influences from Newari, Maithili, and Sino-Tibetan languages due to the expansion of the Gorkha kingdom. This expansion led to the assimilation and extinction of many regional languages. However, Kumouni and Garhwali never expanded in the same way and remained limited in particular region. Do these languages I.e Central Pahari(Kumouni Garwali), still have close linguistic connections with present-day Nepali(an eastern pahari language) ?
