Is Thekaddy or Vagamon good places to visit after christmas time?

I am living in Trivandrum . Looking for leisure time with family along. Planning to go by car and dont want to travel more than 5/6 hrs . Will thekaddy or vagamon be good place to visit now? Please suggest some other places within 250 km for good scenic views and relaxing.
