What are time charts and how do they work?

New to trading and havnt decided on which type of trading I will do but most likely future trading. Not brand brand new, I have learned about liquidity and break of structure and fail value gap and many more technical terms. But overall less than 2 weeks into learning all of that. With that said what are time charts or the buttons that say 1s, 1m, 5m, 30m, 1h. Or sometimes it will show even days. Does it just sum each candle stick into that timeframe and show it as that? If so why would you need anything above a day unless you’re going long long term investing? Yes I know there r videos online but too lazy to watch one atm and I usually learn better through text and others explaining
