Trading help

Hi all- I'm currently working and going to school full time and I think trading would be a good thing to pick up in my spear time. I'm new to the whole thing so l'm not sure if it'd be easier to start trading stocks or currency. I've done some research but jumping start in is kind of overwhelming! I've also heard about a lot of scams so I'm not sure who to follow online. Can anyone recommend tips for a beginner? I'd really appreciate any advice on how to get started!
