wtf is left in this city?

In town, from London. Born and raised in Surat, and I’m back after 2 years. Things have changed infrastructurally but it seems like surat has gone down in terms of the social culture. There used to be a time where cafes used to be a mode of meeting and interacting with new/different people. Doesn’t seem the case now? I’ve got my bunch of friends but the habit of just having a normal conversation with a stranger and getting their perspective of things is something I’m acquainted to, from being in London and also having that same routine before I left Surat. Is there anyone who’s not of the city that feels the same? Someone who either has arrived to or distanced from surat? Or maybe it’s just the lack of alcohol that’s causing this? Help me understand peeps, plus always love the food and this is home. So, no, i do not hate it here. I was born and raised here and roamed these streets. (Not for them tho :))
