Just had a road rage, Suratis are terrible drivers.
This happened less than 10 minutes ago, I live close to bhatar and I often use the althan chowkdi stretch and if you have ever used this stretch since the construction began, this 5 way intersection at SOHAM is chaotic and while going from althan chowkdi to soham, loads of dumbfucks decide that we should join along this road and not take a little longer route because of the construction. Now this stupid man, riding his burgman street of white color, wife (assuming) sitting behind him, and vegetables in the front, No helmet on either of them was riding down, I was on the right hand side and I had to slow down due to lack of space and partially wanted to halt them for going on the road side. I moved a little and passed them, Did not engage with them at all and that's when the person decided to ask "What happened" I waited thoda aage jaake and then pulled over to the side, vo bhi aaye and asked ke kya hua and I asked ke aap wrong side jaa rahe hai, to which their response was "Hum yahi rehte hai aur yahi raasta hai, sab jaate hai" I said ke sab jaate hai toh kya hua, hai toh wrong side hi aur agar yahi raasta hai toh pichle 2 min main aapkke alawa aur koi kyu nahi jaa raha, to which he said ke uske piche ek jan aur tha and my point still stood kyuki there's literally 100+ vehicle passing in one direction and less than 2-5 in the other, simply because there is an alternate route that is a little longer than most sensible people would take. The reason this stupid bum got offended and kept saying was "Meri gaadi kaisi roki" The ego on suratis is something. I always thought about suratis being nice and all and helping each other and I am sure there are plenty of good folks out there. Having lived here my entire life (born and brought up here) I hate what has happened to this city. RTO giving out license like it's masala chaas on a hot summer day and traffic police being absent for a total of 350 days a year. I did leave with "aapke aur aapke family ke liye hi hai, mat karo nahi karna toh" to which he said "haan sab malum hai" I don't wish this upon anyone, including him but what happens if something were to happen, some accident, someone not paying enough attention on the road. A sincere request to all of you, WEAR HELMENTS. It LITERALLY saves lives, there can't be a bigger incentive to wear it then having better odds of living while driving on the typical surati roads, which are a complete mess and surati drivers with these road conditions is perfect recipe for disaster. We see some accident in our city every other day on the news. I end up driving anywhere between 15-50 kms a day, a lot of close calls lately, Kinda scares me to go out on the roads now. I suppose, Surat isn't the carefree place it used to be.4
