PSA: DON'T use Vested.
Vested Finance started out offering free brokerage for buying US stocks, and India-specific tax reports. What's not to love? Then they hiked the brokerage to 0.1% (capped at $20), which I thought was excessive, but hey, they're doing my taxes. Then, they increased it to 0.15%, and then 0.25% (capped at $35). **They didn't even send an email in either case** \- I found out because I checked my transaction report. Even as a long term investor, consider that 0.25% on buying AND selling means that **you lose 0.5% of your TOTAL portfolio value** to fees. That's more than some funds charge for actively managing a portfolio! What's to stop them from charging 2% tomorrow? For the record, here's what much more well-known and reliable brokers charge: * Charles Schwab: 0% * Interactive Brokers: $0.0035 per share The other selling point is their "low" transfer fee, where they get you a "discounted" rate at a partner bank, and then charge **70p per $ as a "platform fee"** 😂 if you think this is discounted, please call up Axis Bank and see how sadly misinformed you are. u/virshah26 you have betrayed the trust of your users. I hope you lose every single one of them. 👎🏼 P.S. for those of you considering switching away: * **Interactive Brokers** and **Charles Schwab** are some of the largest brokerages in the world. You cannot go wrong with them, and yes they are open to Indian investors. * Charles Schwab has a minimum entry ticket size of $25K. They do not seem to enforce it, but I thought it would be good to mention. * Interactive Brokers is what I have switched to, and they have been excellent so far. Their customer service is fantastic too. **In case any of you would like a referral code for Interactive Brokers (you get free IBKR stock):** [**https://ibkr.com/referral/ajeet376**](https://ibkr.com/referral/ajeet376)2
