How to start investing in mutual fund

Hey guys I have 4.5 lakh in my saving account. I want to start my investment journey by putting money in mutual fund. Since everyone told me nifty50 is best for beginners I tried to study about that and I understood it is overvalued right now. Is it still good option to put all money in it. Since iam a beginner I am only looking for long time investment with little less risk. The more I understand the more I will try to diversify my porfolio in coming months/ year. What should I do. (I have my emergency funds in fd)
