Is day trading really that hard?

I’ve always heard about how most day traders lose money but I was thinking: is it really that hard to find ONE stock (based on analysis, news, etc) that might rise or fall on that day by 1% or so and taking a bet on that? Also, this might be a dumb question so forgive my ignorance on the subject!
