Found Old Vijaya Bank Share Certificates: Can They Be Redeemed? Help Needed!
Hi everyone, My father recently came across photocopies of some Vijaya Bank shares he had purchased quite a while back. Given that Vijaya Bank merged with Bank of Baroda in 2019, we’re unsure of the next steps to figure out if these shares hold any value and if they can still be redeemed. Here are some details: • Document Type: Vijaya Shree Units Certificate • Date of Issue: 16/04/96 • Due Date: 16/04/99 • Face Value per Unit: Rs. 1,000 • Number of Units: 550 • Amount of Deposit: Rs. 550,000 We have a few questions and would really appreciate some guidance: 1. Are these shares still valid given the bank’s merger with Bank of Baroda? 2. What is the process to check their current status or transfer them? 3. Do we need the original certificates, or will photocopies suffice? 4. Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully redeemed or transferred such shares? We’re not very familiar with how shareholding works post-merger, so any advice, experiences, or guidance would mean a lot! Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to hearing from the community!3
