Not being valued and have unreal expectations. I will not promote
I’ve been a Front-End Developer at this startup for two years, total YOE 3 and a half year. When I joined, there was nothing — no product. I built the entire web and mobile app from scratch, and I’ve busted my ass doing it. But over time, my growth has hit a wall. There's no senior leadership to learn from, and my manager/co-founder constantly comes up with ideas that are impossible to back. I’m putting in the work to make things clean, structured, and functional, yet none of that matters. Features I deploy get overshadowed by ones that break constantly and need fix after fix — sometimes over 10 hot-fixes per feature. The whole development approach here is a mess. They just keep adding whatever libraries make their job easier, even if it creates chaos. Now we have four different UI libraries for components in one project, and it’s a nightmare. The project looks thrown together and inconsistent, but no one seems to care. The company is growing fast — from 0 to $1 million in revenue in just a year and a half. But even though I’ve poured countless hours into this, my salary increase was just 20%. That’s it. And it’s not just the money — the workload is insane. On top of development, we’re expected to handle support, be on call, and fix user issues. It’s just never-ending. The worst part is the total lack of work-life balance. There’s no clear work schedule. I’ve spent most weekends working — Saturdays, Sundays, no holidays not even national ones. It’s taking a toll on my mental health. I don’t know where to go from here. P.S: I’m just a developer at this startup.5
