what custom tax is charged when importing computer parts
basically the title but i will give further context: i am ordering a 251$ article from china, that i found to be over 8 times cheaper than india. the content is basically hard disks, a motherboard and NVMe(s) it is being shipped through SF international, and the KYC process was initiated at Chengdu, and now it has arrived at Delhi. the parcel is arriving to jharkhand, ranchi. for those worried about quality, this was a great gamble and i had to take it. the purpose? scientific computing and making and refining a model to help with heart diseases, cant let more information on that currently i am actually very concerned about the customs tax - fyi the article is used to some extent, some were unchecked, some might require a minor fix. so i dont know how much custom tax would be levied, i was hoping that if around 20% to 30% of custom tax could be levied, it would ease the process for me. i serached about it online and i found that usually the custom officials search it up on google and tax the 40% of the value they find online, if that is the case, i am very very worried about the hard disks, as those are important and tax on them (calculated this way) could range anywhere between 15k to 25k just in tax, upto 150% of the cost of my article, when it should be around 2k or less. i requested a receipt (invoice) from the seller, just in case. therefore i am concerned, please help me out if any one of you know a thing or two, or work in the customs or have relatives or friends working there.5
