Delhi to sikar, first solo trip

Hello guys, I have to travel from Delhi to sikar for an exam on 17th and it'll be my first solo trip, please help me out with all the info I should know about, Do I only need to book tickets via irctc? That's it? Or anything else as well? How many days in advance should I book the ticket? For hotels, which app will be best? If anyone is from sikar can they provide some info?
