Want to create a family tree to bring together lost relatives
Sat Sri Akal, r/Punjab! I’m from a Punjabi family originally from West Punjab that migrated to the Indian side during Partition in 1947. Over the decades, our family spread out all over India and even across the globe. Now, with many of the elders in our family being 80+ years old, there’s a strong desire among them to bring the entire family together before it's too late and to preserve our history for future generations. I was thinking of creating a detailed family tree to document our roots, stories, and connections. Looking for advice on: - Best platforms or tools to create and manage a family tree (preferably secure and user-friendly). - How to ensure privacy and avoid personal details leaking into the public domain. - Thoughts on incorporating DNA tools like 23andMe or AncestryDNA into the process. - Tips for recording oral histories, especially anecdotes about Partition and migration, which hold so much value for us. If anyone from this community has attempted something similar or has suggestions, I’d be grateful to hear your insights!3
