Punjab’s IELTS economy
Across India, Punjabis are infamous for their desire to migrate abroad, especially to Canada. But, not many know that since Canada changed its immigration laws in mid-2024, Punjab's IELTS economy is struggling to stay afloat. For Mint, I followed Dilveer Singh, a young Punjabi who, unlike so many of his predecessors, has decided to stay in his country. Dilveer enrolled himself in a local college near my tiny hometown and wants to start a dairy farming business after he graduates. In the story, I also talk about how though Punjab's IELTS economy is in shambles, college enrollment in the state has shot up. https://www.livemint.com/education/canada-study-abroad-ielts-visa-international-students-immigration-us-trump-policy-housing-healthcare-social-services-11739274888732.html?trk=feed-detail_main-feed-card_feed-article-content2
