What's up with these police officers roaming around streets collecting money for donation to charity

They showed some certificates ( from the charity) and literally forced me to donate money , I have their UPI saved. Are they legit, cause this is the second time they have forced me to pay money in one year They told me that they are conducting some feast for poor kids and collecting money for that . This was around 2 PM yesterday near Mohammadwadi
