Story of social engineering and money returned in case of accident
I was rear-ended in Feb 2020 once when this Civic slowed down drastically for a normal speed breaker which everyone takes with the same speed. Behind the Civic was a BMW 5 and I was behind the BMW. I was in my EcoSport which has excellent brakes. I braked and stopped but this a**hole Nissan X-trail driver couldn't and rammed into me. He said you braked, I was like no shit, what was I supposed to do? Then he said my brakes didn't work!! I asked him to take it to the side and let's exchange information. I told him it was your mistake and I need you to pay for whatever I incur after insurance. He agreed and we shared details. Later he said I know this garage and we can take your car there. I said no, my car is just 7 months old and I'm only going to the Ford workshop. My whole tailgate was damaged which needed replacement and not denting painting. He agreed somehow. Later after I repaired my car, he started giving excuses and wasn't even listening to the police. May be he even bribed them. Later, I did some social engineering which I'm very good at. The car wasn't in his name. The car was actually sold by someone after it was totaled and was bought by this garage who refurbished it and this was driving it because he was friends with the garage owner. Now, I knew this guy was into business. I searched for his details from corporate information websites (which have Company Director details) and his company address was his Home address and I landed up at his home. That's when he got the shock and asked me to come to the same garage for payment and gave me the cheque. He only paid for the expenses out of my pocket but I incurred much more with cab and other expenses due to not having a car especially during the time just before my wedding. The first thing my wife gifted me was a dash cam.3
