PMPL less seats problem

I have been traveling by PMPL a lot lately, and have seen that bus frequency is less. I mean for some routes even after having frequent buses those are full right upto where you can't even move a inch. On top of this, I don't understand why is there a standing area on the left side where seats could be fitted. Many buses don't operate in the BRT route still have the BRT doors which are in my opinion useless, again more seats could be added there. Or for the BRT routes instead of two doors one could suffice and bus could wait more so that passengers could board or exit. They might have the data of which routes are busiest and could identify the hotspots, if they can't just host a hackathon there are so many engineering colleges which could participate and solve this problem. There could be other colleges or streams which could participate like geoinformatics, urban planning etc. Thoughts ?
