BlinkIt delivery guy asked me to change my correct delivery address. 🤨
Every morning, my mother has a little ritual. She feeds rusks to the crows—probably hoping they’d spread some good gossip about her in the avian world. Today, she reminded me: Mom: “Beta, don’t forget to get the rusks for the crows. Your forefathers may be wondering if we’ve gone bankrupt.” Now, being the epitome of laziness, I wasn’t about to drag myself out to the store. Enter BlinkIt, my savior and enabler of all lazy tendencies. Order placed, mission accomplished. When the delivery guy arrived, I was halfway through pretending I’d been productive all morning. He handed me the bag and then—out of nowhere—popped the question: Delivery Guy: “Sir, will you change your address?” I froze, wondering if I’d accidentally given my cousin’s address (Ya, I order for them as well sometime) or sent him to some far-off desert land. My confusion must’ve been written all over my face because he quickly clarified: Delivery Guy: “No, no, your address is correct. But if you shift it just a few kilometers—from Yerwada to Viman Nagar—I’ll earn a little extra cash.” I paused, debating the ethics of gaming the system. Me: “Hmm, interesting proposition. What’s in it for me? Will you throw in some free rusks for my ancestor/crows?” He laughed but stood his ground. I mulled it over, but my perpetually forgetful brain issued a warning: Brain: “What if you forget to switch it back? Your next order might end up in Viman Nagar, and you’ll be running after someone else’s rusks.” So, I politely declined: Me: “Sorry, buddy. Can’t risk it. I’ll stick to my address—for the crows’ sake.” The delivery guy nodded, defeated but understanding, and left. Later, I started wondering if this little interaction might have consequences. Zomato owns BlinkIt, and I know Zomato has a customer rating system. Could accepting this guy’s request lower my rating? Is there a secret algorithm at work, linking BlinkIt and Zomato ratings, silently judging me for prioritizing crows over cash incentives? In the end, I decided to let it go. I may not know how ratings work across platforms, but I do know one thing: those crows better be my ancestors.5
