Query Related to a Banking Activity - Union Bank
I have a query regarding my Union Bank account, which I opened 8-10 years ago. At the time, I was informed that it was a zero-balance account, and I wouldn’t face any issues even if I didn’t maintain a balance. However, a few years ago, the bank informed me that I needed to maintain a minimum balance of Rs. 2,000, and they even deducted money from the account due to low balance. When I raised a complaint, they didn’t address it. As a result, I started maintaining a balance of over Rs. 2,500 to keep the account active. Now, I want to close the account, but since I no longer live in my hometown and don’t visit often, the bank is insisting that I be present in person to submit an application for closure. Meanwhile, they are still charging me for reasons I am unaware of. In response, I decided to withdraw all the funds from the account. Recently, I received a message stating that a lien of Rs. 59 has been placed on the account due to charges. I need your advice on what steps I should take in this situation. Additionally, I’m concerned about what might happen if I continue to leave the account inactive without any balance. Will this affect my CIBIL score in any way?1
