Should we start using Yumnak as surnames for newborns in our family instead of Singha or Devi in Meitei culture? What are your thoughts on this?

To the meitei folks here, I've been reflecting on the ongoing situation in Manipur and recent post on Roy from Arunachal. Ik mostly people from Manipur widely adopt their yumnak or sagei as surnames. I'm personally considering dropping "Singha/Devi" for the upcoming generation to show greater alignment with our pre-Hinduism roots, to better preserve our cultural identity and traditions and to be more representative of the native Meitei heritage. I have 3 doubts as of now - 1. How common is it for families to use yumnak surnames today outside Manipur? 2. For those who've used "Singha/Devi" for generations, would this shift cause legal or document related issues? Especially if the surname differs from the parents'? 3. Can we use Sagei as surname? How common is it?
