"Hello everyone, I'm a 26-year-old researcher from Uttarakhand, UK. I'll be relocating to Manipur in April for a 2-3 year posting, possibly longer. Since I'm single and don't have a family, I'll be making this move alone. As part of my government job, I'll have access to quarters. I'm currently learning Meitei as part of my training. Previously, I've worked and lived in Arunachal Pradesh from 2022-2024, which has given me some experience with the unique culture and challenges of the Northeast region. I'll be based in Imphal, Churachandpur, Thoubal, and Jiribam. Could you please share insights on: - Safety in Manipur and the specific areas I'll be living in? - What to expect and prepare for? - Locals' friendliness and ease of socializing? - Availability of rental options (in case government quarters aren't available)? - Safety and reliability of government banks, which I'll be working closely with?
