Just Missed My Ticket Out of The NEET Life
Idk if I’m technically a NEET, I have a degree and have worked jobs. In fact I used to work all the time but I burnt out pretty bad at like 28 and started traveling. Since then Ive worked seasonal jobs which are predominantly easy kitchen jobs that I work with teenagers. “Fuck it” I thought. I kept working them and then traveling in the off season. It’s been fun but it’s a cycle of building up savings and then spending them all. All the while my resume now looks like absolute shit with huge gaps and low level jobs being my only xp. Anyway, that seasonal job was looking for a sous chef and I felt I had a really good shot at it. I applied and interviewed and felt very confident about it. It would have given me insurance, benefits, 4 months of vacation every year, etc. A damn good job for a burnout like me. Well I found out I didn’t get it. I’m 34, 5k to my name, a useless degree, and a lousy resume. I will persevere like i always have but in this moment I feel mega bummed about this news. I’m very afraid of a coming economic crash and becoming destitute.2
