I've been a NEET since I finished high school
Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on this subreddit. I'm a 19-year-old guy, and last year I finished high school. I took a gap year to figure out what I want to do with my life, but I feel like I'm slowly heading towards being a lifelong NEET. I live with my parents, who love me, and I love them to death. They would do anything for me. My father always says that I never have to work if I don’t want to, that I'll always be his little kid (not entirely normal, but okay). So technically, I **could** be a NEET for life. I always thought about going to university, but no degree really interests me, and on top of that, I don’t feel like working. I receive a monthly disability allowance (not much money, but better than nothing), which I would lose if I got a job. More than anything, I hate the idea of having to wake up at fixed and regular times. I know this might sound childish, but I really don’t know what to do with my life. I enjoy being a "spectator"—watching people work hard, create content, and achieve things, while I just sit back and observe. But at the same time, it makes me feel like a failure and incredibly lonely. The only friends I’ve ever had came from school, and I have no idea how to make new friends outside of that environment, which I’m no longer a part of. What would you guys suggest I do? How are you all doing?1
