• How it feels to work

I am a former NEET, now a wageslave for the last seven years of necessity. Here are a few reflections I wrote down before starting my day's work today. Day 2348 in the 4HL. The days now bleed into one another with a pace that ever quickens. My existence has become a form of living death in which I observe the world disinterestedly through the eyes of an automaton as he shuffles from one task to the next. The hopes of personal flourishing that I once held are barely a memory. They feel indeed so distant that it is hard to imagine they were ever mine. The purpose of this body that I once believed belonged to me is single and clear: to undertake my Sisyphean labour without interruption until my mind and body falter and stumble, the drum beat fades and the dusk of my life descends. Then my use will have expired and I will be relinquished, though there will be nothing left of me but a decrepid shell too weak to grasp at the entrails of a life whose sands are run. With a pathetic rasp I will exhale my last breath and be no more.
