Am i responsible for paying for an electricity meter repair as a tenant
I’m a tenant in an apartment where the electricity meters are kept in a common meter room, which I don’t have access to. Recently, my meter wasn’t showing a reading, so it had to be repaired. From what I understand, meter maintenance is usually the landlord’s or the electricity provider’s responsibility, unless the tenant caused the damage (which I obviously didn’t). However, my broker paid for the repair at the time, and now they are asking me to reimburse them. Meanwhile, my latest electricity bill shows a refund adjustment for the meter cost, reducing my bill amount. I don’t think I should be the one paying the broker, since I had no control over the meter and didn’t cause any damage. Shouldn’t the landlord be responsible for this? Has anyone else faced a similar situation? Would appreciate any advice!5
