Travelling to Mysore for the first time

Hi, travelling to Mysore with my mother Wanted to know is it safe to roam around in autos Also if we go to Brindavan gardens in the evening, is it easy to get a ride back around 7pm since it’s a bit out of Mysore. Please drop in any suggestions for us first time tourists, going to Mysore for 2 days
