Palace of Mysore

Can anyone please tell me on Sundays when does the palace of Mysore open? I went at 12pm, auto waalas said it was closed,come back at 4pm,same thing. I hope it is open on Sundays. Can anyone help on this. Also,what are some other places to visit in Mysore in one day?
