People of Mumbai, please help me decide if I should get a Gym membership or a bicycle.
Please Forgive me if this looks like a stupid question to you guys but I am genuinely confused. Hey everyone, I’m stuck between getting a gym membership or buying a cycle,! A bit about me: I’m 25, 5'6", with a thin-to-lean build. I work full-time (leave at 8 AM and return around 6:30 PM), and I have about 1-1.25 hours in the evening for such an activity. I currently walk 3-3.5 km approx. After dinner daily, but lately, I feel walking alone isn’t enough to stay active. My goal is to stay fit, keep my body moving and my mind active (sort of like an escape from daily tensions), and lose a small belly pooch (not a big deal, but noticeable in tight clothing). I have two options: * **Gym Membership (₹12-15k/year):** Strength training, machines, and a structured environment. But after a long workday and being indoors at home, the gym might feel like just another four-walled confinement. I prefer going out, or at least being able to tell myself, *"Chalo, aaj kahi toh bahar chala gaya."* * **Cycling (around ₹12-15k for a decent bicycle in Decathlon):** Good cardio, gives me the freedom to ride around, and I live in a township with ample space and less traffic. But I’d miss out on proper strength training. I have a good diet, rarely eat junk, and my focus is on staying active rather than bulking up. For those who’ve faced a similar choice—what worked best for you? Can cycling alone be enough for fitness, or does a gym provide better long-term benefits? Would love to hear your experiences and advice2
