Why are Sindhis so money minded?

I inherited a flat in a building full of Sindhis. Now its going for redevelopment and all of them are like vultures trying to scam me out of my flat, suddenly claiming to have my best interests at heart but all wanting to get the flat for peanuts. Whats the deal? Why does it always have to be win-lose?
