Pollution in the city

The one thing that gave mumbai an edge over other Indian metros was low pollution. That too has gone to dogs. This is how Mumbai skyline looked from RoRo to Alibaug. You can see the pollution layer clearly beneath the clear sky. My friend said that Delhi went through the same phase of construction and pollution in 2008 before becoming organised as we see it today. Do we need patience with the city for it to overcome that transformation barrier or is it truly irredeemable.
