Is this a parking violation? Traffic Police Harassment
I have been parking my vehicle on a public road outside of my workplace. It is a regulated parking zone, i.e the traffic police has a Parking Board mentioning even dates of parking - so I know it’s a valid parking spot. The landlord of the building has been harassing me, telling me that I cannot park in front of his building as it obstructs his PEDESTRIAN gate. The gate does not have any slope in front of it, so there are no vehicles that pass from there. More so, right next to the pedestrian gate, there is a big vehicular gate which remains unobstructed. He claimed he need that gate for his mothers wheelchair, however the neighbours have told us that his mother passed away several years ago - so this is just blatant harassment. The police have fined me twice, basis the images shared by the landlord. The fines are under “Obstruction and undue inconvenience caused” Question to you guys: Is this really a violation or just plain harassment? If a vehicle is parked on a public road, in a parking zone, how is it blocking any traffic? The path to the footpath remains unobstructed. If we speak the law, then why should a pedestrian need direct access to the road from their pedestrian gate? They should be using the footpath? Please let me know how I can challenge this harassment.2
