Is my college is like this?
Is it just my college or are all colleges in Mumbai like this? I’m in my first year at this one college in Matunga East, and from day one, I’ve seen construction happening. I don’t know why. But it’s always there. Non stop And the weirdest part? It was never completed. Until now. Suddenly, everything is done. The broken infrastructure? Fixed. The half finished projects? Magically completed. Why? Because the NAAC inspection is happening. I met a third year student who told me this construction has been going on since his first year. That means it’s been years, and nothing got done. But the moment NAAC people decide to visit, they manage to finish everything in one week? Even one day? Just a few days ago, some of these places weren’t even half completed, and now they look brand new. Like… what?? Where was this speed before? Why can’t the college be maintained all the time instead of just putting on a show when inspectors come? And it’s not just that the classrooms are a mess. There’s dust everywhere on benches, on desks, even on the floors. They don’t even bother sweeping properly. And the irony? This college constantly lectures students about respecting the environment, not littering, and keeping the campus clean. Bro, first clean your own classrooms. Students have to sit on dust covered benches, some of which are literally broken, and they expect us to take them seriously? We still do But the moment NAAC came, every class was suddenly spotless. No dust. No broken benches. No spiderwebs. Nothing. Like it was a completely different college. How? Where was this energy before? And then there are these ghost stories floating around. I don’t know if they’re real or just something people made up, but honestly, I find them fake. Who is the ghost? What even happened? No clue. But what did happen is that a fan once fell on a girl in a classroom. Luckily, she survived. But the audacity of this college?? After the fan fell on a student, they just took it out of the classroom and left it outside literally right next to the door. They didn’t throw it away, didn’t fix anything nothing. The fan just sat there for two days, maybe even more, like some kind of display piece. lol I just don’t get it. Is it just my college, or are all colleges like this?5
