• Escaped kidnapping. How can I help?

I’m feeling completely useless here and I’m not sure what would help but is there anything I can do? For context, I’m home for the holidays (I’m a student so live elsewhere) and recently ran into my maid, that hasn’t been coming for a few weeks. She’s like family to me and one of the only few friends that I have left in the city so I was very concerned when she suddenly disappeared. When I finally did run into her, I told her of how much I missed her and asked what was up - I expected some family issues but I did not see this coming: About a month ago, her daughter was drugged in the local train while coming back home from college and she woke up near Vapi station in Gujarat. There were a couple other girls, also presumably kidnapped but she somehow managed to run and escape and get help from another stranger who eventually took her to the police station. This was all in a matter of 8 hours. Her family, worried sick by then, immediately went to Gujarat to go get her and bring her back home safe. The police have advised her to not go to college for a while as they’re assuming that she was tracked. Moreover, now that she escaped, the kidnappers may be looking for her even more vigilantly. The doctors don’t know what she was drugged with but it took her days to physically recover. Mentally, she still hasn’t. She is too scared to leave her own home and her family is too traumatised to ever send her back to college. What breaks my heart is that if the college doesn’t allow for her to attend only during exams, then she may never go back to school again. I found out about all of this a few hours ago. This woman is like family to me and I absolutely have no clue how to help her. My heart’s in pieces over how much we as a society fail to women, and I’m letting it all out on here wondering if there’s anything, anything at all that may help that poor woman and her daughter? I can’t even imagine what must be going through those parents who’s daughters never came back.
