Does Mumbai have a problem?

I'm a hard-core Mumbaikar. But over the last 2-3 years, I get the feeling Mumbai is going to the dogs. The air is getting worse. The traffic jams are longer. Public transport is a nightmare. The cost of living is seriously high. I'm done with this 'Spirit of Mumbai' rubbish as well. This hits me each time I come back from a smaller town in another part of the country. The first thing that hits me is how bad the air smells and how difficult it is to breathe. I'm beginning to think more often now I ought to shift to a calmer, quieter city that will amp up my quality of life (No, I'm not talking of Pune). Anyone in the room thinking along these lines? Arguments for it? Arguments against it? I'm all ears.
