How do you engine brake safely on bikes without slipper clutch?

I come across many accident videos and the comment section flooded with comments like haha noob pulled clutch, not heard of engine braking etc. I personally use engine braking quite often but just one gear lower, what i m afraid of is downshifting rapidly while doing it and rear wheel locking up because it does happen when i tried with normal shifting, i do know rev matching and clutchless shift and tried it many times but downshifting is just scary so i use rev matching in sync with clutch lever action for smooth gear shifts So my question is is it possible to engine brake, rev match and downshift without locking the rear on a non slipper clutch equipped bike? M just afraid of highside so experienced riders enlighten please
