Didn’t do engine run in
It’s been 2 weeks since I got my cb300r and 550kms. Did not do proper engine run in as suggested in the user manual. For the first 50kms I rode it slow because I didn’t wanna experiment with a bike I don’t know the capabilities of. To learn the handling characteristics and power delivery of this thing I took 7days and rode it in locality. After that I went to a bike meet 50kms away from my home and during this ride I hit 110kmph a couple of times and did some occasional fast overtakes. After that I took it to office and rode it almost like a hooligan. Did not hit limiter though but I did 5-6k rpm upshifts often times. After 250kms I did an oil and oil filter change. After 550kms without first service and with a loose noisy chain I am getting 36kmpl tank to tank which is way above what people get from a properly run-in 300r. So don’t baby your new bike in the first 1000kms just because you were suggested to do so. Don’t redline it but ride like just the way you want to if you want a smooth revving efficient engine in the long run.1
