Advise me for an unexpected bike trip to Punjab

Fellow North Indian bikers, especially from Punjab, I have to travel to Amritsar on the 4th (will be back on the 5th) but I am facing a dilemma whether to travel via bike or take a volvo or something because I've heard fog accumulates on the highways in Punjab. I'll be starting from Manali. I've travelled Manali to Chandigarh a bunch of times so I'm familiar with the route till Kiratpur Sahib but a bit sceptical about the rest of the route via (Anandpur Sahib & Jalandhar). P.S My scepticism regarding safety is a bit more due to winter season. Any advice is appreciated. I'll be starting from Manali in the morning & will start back towards Manali between 11-12 a.m
