A school which focus on teaching kids & not getting exams done.

Is there any school in Meerut, which focus on teaching kids and making them better for real? I won't name the school here but my kid is studying in a reputed school (class 1). However, I am not really happy the way they are always focused on getting the syllabus completed for the sake of it & focusing on getting exams done (exams are conducted 4 times in a year). Is this a CBSE thing? This culture is a shock to me actually because I studied from UP board, where focus was always on good teaching & not just exams. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
