Assaulted in Bengaluru

I am a Mangalorean who knows tulu and kannada. I can speak kannada but with limited vocabulary and have difficulty expressing some words. I can converse in kannada but kannada isn't my first language.When I was in Bengaluru, i took a autorickshaw and we had a conversation in kannada. I spoke in kannada conversing with him and he started verbally assaulting me saying I was a northerner. Kannada gotthiladidre Elli barbeda. Kannada Kali. I tried my best explained to him I was from mangalore. My home tongue is tulu. But still it was vain. After all that verbal abuse , when he dropped me to my location he charged me 1k for 10 kilometers. I simply paid it. Coming to the question, do bangaloreans when they come to mangalore, try to learn tulu, konkani or beary. No. They talk in kannada and expect everyone to know kannada. But we tuluvas are accomating and don't try to force others to learn our language. When migrants come here and talk in hindi, we try our best and reply in broken Hindi. Just a rant.
