How safe is Mangalore?
Hello people of Namma Kudla! Lately I came across "2 am Stories" on YouTube. This series is similar to a sting operation, but the catch is a woman (sometimes assisted by her friend) walk around the streets and famous spots of a city in India and capture all the experience on their vlogging camera. They have a backup team incase something goes wrong. This series covered on what challenges a woman will face while travelling alone in these cities from 12am-4am time period, how safe it is for them in that city and how people (especially men) around treat them. This series has covered stories from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and many more tier1, tier 2 cities of India and it made me wonder if a episode of this was ever made in Mangalore, what would have been the end result. I am a M and have roamed around the city between the 12am-5am time gap, mostly with friends and never felt there really was a problem, apart from possible chances of theft (common fear anyone would have when going out at that time). But as a man we have to worry about base layer which includes chances of theft, deal with drunk people or them trying to hold on to you(kidnap if a possibility). But it ain't the same for a Woman, as they not only have to fear about the base layer problems but also what stays at highest priority for a women is men trying to grope them, harrassing and cat calling them, sexual assault (worst case is something I don't want to speak about as it's really sensitive). So ladies, Have you ever come across such situations while going around the city late in the night. If so please do share your stories. Why I am saying this is because I love my city and as a Kudla boy I want this city to be safe for everyone and never worry about what can happen while walking round the city you live in. This should be for both genders, and hopefully with your stories men can know more about this topic and atleast that will open their eyes by knowing what happens around the places they move around freely or even near their neighborhood. P.S: the link to the series if you are interested in knowing more about what I am trying to say! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSjJByiGR9m5mnX7E1KIZKIEXsAUXOvKZ&feature=shared4
